The 2017 High School Summer Program is drawing to an end, but our young geometricians are as focused and determined as ever! This morning鈥檚 session marked the fourth and penultimate class on Euclid鈥檚 Elements, and the students have become quite adept at demonstrating propositions. Today they confidently worked their way through Book I, Propositions , , and , amazed that something that seemed so foreign and complicated 鈥 only days ago 鈥 is now so familiar and comprehensible.

At lunch students resumed last night鈥檚 conversations from Fr. Sebastian鈥檚 鈥淭heology on Float鈥 presentation. They then went to the afternoon鈥檚 class, where they discussed Boethius鈥 treatment of the difference between chance and Providence, comparing it to Sophocles鈥 depiction of fate in Oedipus Rex. Alas, today鈥檚 class marks the end of the Boethius portion of this year鈥檚 program. In tomorrow鈥檚 afternoon session 鈥 the last class of summer 2017! 鈥 students will examine Flannery O鈥機onnor鈥檚 Everything That Rises Must Converge.

Before then, though, there is still much fun to be had! This afternoon students will participate in the College鈥檚 newest athletic tradition, the Chariots of Fire鈥搃苍蝉辫颈谤别诲 quad run! Come back tomorrow for pictures 鈥
